Due to the pandemic, the annual State of Osceola County address is presented virtually for 2020. Chairwoman Viviana Janer offers an update on the previous year and its challenges as the entire community has been impacted in some way by COVID-19, but notes that in spite of the difficulties, the community's spirit perseveres.
On Thursday, October 15, Osceola County Commissioners announced their support of the Osceola School District with $2.3 million in CARES Act funds for computer equipment, including 3,800 laptops; rapid job training; basic education and language programs.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused a lot of hardship throughout our country. Here in Osceola County, there is a program to help residents pay their housing and/or utility bills. Starting October 5th, residents may go online to apply for assistance. Assistant Human Services Director, Danicka Ransom has more information on the programs, as well as a request for anyone who has not completed their 2020 Census form online to do so by the FINAL DAY which is Monday, October 5th.
